Summer
(May - August)
Summer is the most challenging season for lawns under drought conditions. Without consistent watering, turf becomes thin, stressed, and slow to recover—conditions that attract damaging insects and allow weeds to spread. Chinch bugs typically appear in May or June and remain active through early fall, and their damage can expand rapidly from one day to the next. Because chinch bug damage rarely fills back in naturally, timely insect control is essential. Warm mornings and hot days may also encourage certain lawn diseases to become active, though treatment is not always recommended due to limited long‑term benefit. Indoors, drought drives pests to seek moisture, increasing general household pest activity.
