Fall
(September - November)
Fall remains a recovery period for drought‑stressed lawns, but it is also when additional pests become active. Chinch bugs may continue into early fall, and Sod Webworms typically emerge this time of year—often after homeowners notice tan moths flying up from the lawn. Mantis does not treat the moths, as they are adults, but focuses on the larvae that hatch roughly two weeks later and begin chewing the grass blades. Early signs of Sod Webworm activity include uneven patches that look like a mower was set down in random spots, thinning turf, and browning in shaded areas. Fall is also when Brown Patch disease becomes more common due to cooler nights and lingering moisture, though treatment is not always recommended. Mantis focuses on strengthening the lawn through fall fertilization, targeted insect control, and careful weed management.
